Table Talk #7: Evangelicalism and the Environment
Table Talk with the Rev. Dr. Dan Brunner
Saturday, October 1, 2011
9:45 a.m. noon
George Fox Evangelical Seminary, Room 285
Creation care has often been a ‘tough sell’ within Christianity in general; it has been an even tougher sell within the broad Evangelical movement. During this table talk we will discuss such issues as the authority of Scripture (or, hermeneutics), the second coming of Christ (or, eschatology), conversion, and ecojustice. Is it even possible to build bridges with those more theologically conservative than we might be?
Dan is professor of Christian history and formation at George Fox. His background includes: BA, Biblical Studies, Northwest Christian College; MDiv, Fuller Theological Seminary; DPhil, University of Oxford. The loves and passions of his life are his family, early morning solitude, freshly-pressed coffee, reading eclectically, spending time in his garden, and following the Oregon Ducks, Portland Trailblazers and Seattle Mariners. His favorite authors include Wendell Berry, Susan Howatch, Richard Rohr, Douglas John Hall, and Kathleen Norris.
